Highlights from the EMEUNET Session at NextGen Symposium 9-10 Jan 26 (National Belgian young rheumatologist symposium)

During the NextGen Symposium 2026, organised by the Belgian Royal Society of Rheumatology for young rheumatologists on 9 and 10 January, a dedicated session introduced EMEUNET and highlighted its benefits for young Belgian rheumatologists.

One concrete example of the network’s impact was the exceptional presence of Prof. Gulen Hatemi (Istanbul University–Cerrahpaşa), made possible through the connections fostered by EMEUNET between young Belgian and Turkish rheumatologists. Beyond this example, the session presented the wide range of activities offered by EMEUNET, emphasising opportunities for education, mentoring, collaboration, and professional development. Particular attention was given to the EMEUNET Newsletter as an effective tool for staying up to date with network initiatives and developments in rheumatology.

This overview, presented by Maxime Melchior (Newsletter Subcommittee) in collaboration with Charlotte Baert (Country Liaison), underlined the value of EMEUNET for young Belgian rheumatologists and encouraged greater engagement within the network.
