EMEUNET Social Media: An Overview
The aim of the EMEUNET Social Media Sub-Committee is to spread information concerning EMEUNET or ongoing activities of rheumatologic interest across all the main social media channels, as well as our dedicated website and regular emails.
The core of all EMEUNET-related information can be found on our website. The site has been online since June 2012, and has been expanding ever since, and is currently undergoing an upgrade to make it even better.
On our homepage, you can find announcements of interesting conferences, useful courses and exchange programmes, updates with information about registrations to conferences and bursaries, links to educational content and job offers. On our website, you can also find the “What is New” section according to disease.
FACEBOOK, X, LINKEDIN and INSTAGRAM
In 2014, we launched our EMEUNET Facebook and Twitter platforms, providing quick up-to-date information to the rheumatology community. In 2016, we joined LinkdIn, and more recently, we launched our EMEUNET Instagram account.
Our main goals are promoting EMEUNET visibility and its goals, through reaching out to all rheumatologists and researchers in rheumatology across the world. If you’re not already following us on social media, we would love to connect with you.
PODCAST
EMEUNET has been producing podcasts since February 2020, as part of its educational offering to early-career academic rheumatologists, aiming to inform and educate listeners while “on the go”. Topics have included the “What is New?” journal series, congress highlights, interviews from the ever-popular Mentor-Mentee meetings and, more recently, interviews with authors of recently-published studies as well as key figures from the world of rheumatology, including the Chair of EMEUNET and EULAR President.

2023 saw a huge increase in our podcast offering, led by members of the Education Sub-committee and a dedicated team of editors based in the Social Media sub-committee. We now release one podcast every two weeks on a Friday- make sure you subscribe to our social media channels and on Spotify to be kept up-to-date!

ACTIVITIES
Top 10 Abstracts: Become a winner!
EMEUNET members are very productive researchers and contribute many interesting abstracts to our major conferences. Therefore, each year for EULAR and ACR we select the top 10 abstracts submitted by EMEUNET members, which we highlight on our social media platforms. This year, we have received a record number of submissions, and the social media posts on our platforms received more attention than ever before, resulting in a lot of positive promotion for our top 10 abstract winners. Keep an eye out for our next request to submit your abstract to the EMEUNET top 10, you might be our next winner!

Looking ahead to 2024
In 2024, our primary social media goals revolve around expanding our professional network by actively engaging with other young organizations. We aim to foster meaningful connections, collaborations, and knowledge-sharing opportunities. Additionally, recognizing the significance of effective communication in the digital landscape, we plan to enhance our X/Twitter proficiency through a dedicated course ahead of the EULAR conference. This strategic initiative not only aligns with our commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements but also positions us to leverage social media platforms for impactful engagement within the medical community and beyond.
