Title: Efficacy and safety of add-on glucocorticoid pulse therapy during remission induction in patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis: a target trial emulation study

This target trial emulation used a cohort of 247 patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis enrolled between 2004 and 2024. Remission (BVAS=0) at 12 months was similar with or without add-on glucocorticoid pulses during induction with rituximab or cyclophosphamide. Infections were more frequent in the pulse-treatment group..

Title: Salivary Gland Ultrasonography Severity Reflects Progressive Exocrine Dysfunction in Sjögren’s Disease

This retrospective cohort study included 1,123 patients with Sjögren’s disease and OMERACT ultrasonography scoring of the major salivary glands. A grade of 3 in the most severely affected gland was associated with worse salivary flow, Schirmer test results and ocular staining scores than a grade of 0. The findings link greater ultrasonographic severity to more pronounced exocrine dysfunction.

Title: Clonal hematopoiesis orchestrates Giant Cell Arteritis Disease trajectory and immune landscape: a multicentric and multiomics approach

This multicentre study found clonal haematopoiesis (CH) in approximately 50% of 260 patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA). CH was associated with relapse risk and a trend towards ischaemic manifestations. Transcriptomic and spatial transcriptomic analyses suggest links between CH and the vascular immune mechanisms of GCA.

Title: Effectiveness of Sarilumab versus Methotrexate as Glucocorticoid-sparing Therapy in Polymyalgia Rheumatica

This retrospective database study compared 258 patients with polymyalgia rheumatica treated with sarilumab with matched methotrexate initiators. Median time to glucocorticoid discontinuation was shorter, and cumulative glucocorticoid exposure was lower, in the sarilumab group. These real-world findings support a glucocorticoid-sparing benefit of sarilumab, while recognising the observational design.

Title: The impact of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies: A population-based cohort in England 2002 to 2021

This UK population-based cohort identified 4,097 patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. Mortality and cancer risks were higher than in controls during the first year after diagnosis. During subsequent follow-up of 2–19 years, the risks remained elevated without further increase. The study highlights sustained adverse outcomes, including excess cancer risk, in this population
